Onyomo.com launches movie availability search

Local search engine Onyomo.com has launched a movie availability search on mobiles and its site

Onyomo.com, a local search engine, has recently launched a movie availability search facility as part of its search portfolio.

Using movie availability search, you can check the details of the movies that are running and the availability of tickets across various cinema halls in the city on the same day. You can also check the rating of a movie and read movie reviews and find out more about the cast of a film. “Usually, details will be available only for the latest movies, but if a cinema hall is running an old movie, its details will be displayed in our search results,” says Shailesh Mehta, CEO, Onyomo.com.

The other major local search engine, Guruji.com, also plans to launch a similar facility soon.

Onyomo is offering the movie search facility both on the web as well as on mobile. To check movie details on a mobile, you need to log on to the Onyomo wapsite, www.Owap.in. An SMS facility will also be integrated within a week, which will offer ticket availability details on any mobile number. The movie availability search is currently available in nine major cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Jaipur, among them, but there are plans to extend it to other cities as well.

“Till yet, Onyomo.com has not explored the commercial viability for this feature in terms of tie-ups with movie producers to offer a sponsored search, but it will be explored in the future,” says Mehta. Onyomo has tied up with several third party companies to supply information related to the availability of movie tickets on a real-time basis.
