Viral Now: Snickers brings back Mr. Bean as Ninja

Roward Atkinson, the lovable Mr. Bean, makes a comeback after a 14 year-long hiatus. For Snickers UK, he plays a failed Kung Fu warrior.

Mr. Bean, dressed in a trademark tweed jacket and red tie, is a childish buffoon who brings unusual slapstick-flavoured humour to everyday tasks. Immortalised on-screen by British actor Roward Atkinson, the lovable character is back as a 'Kung Fu' warrior in a Snickers commercial.

This is Atkinson's first appearance in an since the 1990s.

Owned by Mars Inc, Snickers UK has teamed up with the goofy Mr. Bean to release a series of Ninja-themed films. The series is based on Snickers' global positioning 'You're not you when you're hungry.' The brand's commercials across markets typically feature a super hungry individual who turns into a cranky female celebrity, only to be restored to his normal self after biting into the nut-laden chocolate bar.

Executed by the London-based AMV BBDO, this advert is set in ancient China. Mr. Bean is a Kung Fu Master who is shown feeling a touch out of sorts... until he bites into a bar of Snickers, of course.

The most popular advert in the Mr. Bean series is one that features a group of roof-hopping Ninjas; the film has already garnered over 4.5 million views on YouTube.

The other adverts in the series include Kata, Nunchucks, Wooden Dummy and High Kick. They feature immaculate moves by Kung Fu Master Cheung and Mr. Bean's hilarious attempts to imitate him.

This commercial builds on the success of Snickers' Locker Room spot (2012) starring Joan Collins and Stephanie Beacham. The Diva ad featuring Collins was the most recognised ad in the UK in 2013.

Back in India, Snickers has tied-up with Bollywood diva Rekha.

Packed with roasted peanuts, nougat, caramel and milk chocolate, Snickers' main proposition is that it tackles hunger in a jiffy.

Mars Inc, the parent company, is based in McLean, Virginia and markets products that fall under six business verticals, namely, Petcare, Chocolate, Wrigley, Food, Drinks and Symbioscience.
