Arvind Sharma exits India Sari House

He is working on a new project in the food domain.

Arvind Sharma - former chairman and CEO of Indian subcontinent at Leo Burnett - who left the agency in 2013 and turned entrepreneur, has exited his e-commerce venture, indiasarihouse.com.

Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Sharma wrote, "The journey from an e-commerce idea to a profitable venture and then to a successful exit was supported by an incredible number of friends and well-wishers around the world. Thank you, all."

On what motivated this move, he adds, "In today's start up world, the intention is to build the venture and not necessarily run it for 30 years, but to sell it if you are making a profitable exit... that was always the intention."

Sharma informs that currently he is working on a new project in the area of foods, the details of which will be divulged later.

With a management degree from IIM Ahmedabad, Arvind Sharma spent the first few years of his career in marketing, at Voltas. He joined advertising in 1979 at Clarion McCann. In 1983, he moved to Chaitra as account director. In 2002, Sharma was promoted as chairman and CEO of the agency. He also had a hand in the creation of the agency's second network in India, Orchard Advertising, and the agency's media arm, Starcom.

Sharma has also worked on the executive committees of Advertising Club of Bombay, National Readership Survey Council, Advertising Agencies Association of India and Media Research Users Council.
