KFC’s Colonel Sanders pens a romantic book

Created in collaboration with Wieden + Kennedy the book is aimed at celebrating Mother’s Day in a special way.

One wouldn’t associate Colonel Harland Sanders in the role of a dashing lover engaged in a torrid affair with a married woman. However, that is what the founder of KFC is doing in Tender Wings of Desire, a book – or novella – ostensibly written by the man himself.

Dig deeper and you discover that the book’s author is Catherine Kovac, a former bustle.com feature writer. KFC and Wieden + Kennedy Portland thought up the idea as part of a publicity stunt for Mother’s Day. May 14th, says KFC, is its busiest day of the year. Hence the reading material for every mother who comes in for a celebratory bite.

The novella is a love story between Lady Madeline Parker who has run away to work in a seaside tavern and a dashing bespectacled sailor who sweeps her off her feet. But there is more to the romance than meets the eye.

KFC believes that this will be the ultimate crowd-puller.
