Royal Enfield intends to increase its production to 40,000-50,000 pieces from the current 30,000 pieces
RL Ravichandran, erstwhile vice- president, marketing, Bajaj Auto, has taken over as the chief executive officer of two-wheeler major, Royal Enfield.
Ravichadran, who had quit Bajaj Auto in March 2005, took over his new responsibilities only in the first week of August. In between, he was associated with Bajaj Auto as a marketing consultant.
On his new challenges, Ravichadran says, “Our first priority will be to increase the volume of sales. Second, we plan to introduce new products, maintaining the sanctity of the brand in the 350 cc category. In addition, we also plan to increase our exports in the 500 cc category.”
“We intend to increase our volumes to 40,000-50,000 pieces from the existing 30,000 pieces that we sell currently,” he said.
Ravichandran, a post-graduate in business administration, has spent around 18 years in the two-wheeler industry. He had worked for TVS Motors for 10 years. Subsequently, he moved to Bajaj Auto, where he worked for another eight years.
