New Update

Company press release, July 30, 2003

New Delhi

Philips India Limited, a subsidiary of Netherlands based Royal Philips Electronics, and India's most respected consumer electronics brand, has introduced the MX 3800 D Home Theatre, the all-in-one DVD/CD player with the Philips patented wOOx technology, which ensures superior bass. The advantage is that deeper bass adds dynamism to normal music and motion pictures. The 100 watts Philips wOOx subwoofer with a 6 1/2 woofer reflects sound waves off the floor adding to the impact. Coupled with all these features, the MX 3800 D blends stunning looks with unmatched style. All with a super power of 350 Watts RMS - at the most competitive price of Rs. 29,990/- (MRP).

Commented Ms Sharmila Sahai, GM, Audio & Videq, Consumer Electronics, Philips India Ltd., "Philips has enjoyed a very strong position in the audio and video segment and has earned considerable customer loyalty for itself. Hence we are constantly researching market trends, which has proven that the quality of sound deliverance is critical to the consumers of today. That made us come up with the MX3800 D to cater to this important need. Our motto is to leverage the superior Philips technology to meet changing customer needs."

The Philips MX3800 D which is compatible with DVD, DVD+RW, VCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW and CD-MP3, comes equipped with Dolby Digital Surround Sound and offers the ultimate experience in home theatre surround using Dolby Digital 5.1 with six discrete channels of digital CD sound. Each channel carries its own sound and depending on what happens on screen each speaker plays its own unique role in providing the right sound. Dolby Digital delivers the expanded sense of depth, localization and overall realism, which was earlier available only in digital-surround-sound-equipped cinema halls.

The Philips MX 3800 D also comes equipped with DTS surround sound, which is a cinema surround sound audio format that offers superior digital audio performance than other available sound formats.

DTS offers more clarity and definition especially for higher tones. The better sound quality is a direct result of the limited sound compression (3:1 instead of 11:1 for Dolby Digital) and the 20-bit resolution.

DTS movie and music software is available on various DVD and CD titles. Hence with Discs encoded in the DTS format, the Philips MX 3800 D gives you the ultimate sound experience.
