The 44th edition of National Garment Fair (NGF) 2003, Indias largest trade fair for apparel brands and retailers will be held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, NSE Grounds, Goregaon Mumbai from between July 31 and 2nd August 2003. Union textile minister Shri Shahnawaz Hussein will inaugurate the NGF 2003 on Thursday July 31, 2003.
Organized by CMAI (The Clothing Manufacturers Associations of India) the apex association of the industry, NGF is the largest meeting ground for the manufacturers and retailers in the garment industry. It has been at the forefront in providing a platform to the garment industry in India.
A total of nearly 250 brands and 15,000 retailers will be represented for three days. The number of visitors is expected to increase by 25% than last year, where about 12,000 business visitors came to see the latest in men, women and childrens fashion as presented by 175 brands. CMAI has roped in Gini and Jony and Trigger Jeans as the associate sponsors for the largest ever garment extravaganza in India and they will showcase their 2004-spring/autumn collections at the fair.
Wills Sport, Zodiac, Trigger and Levis will make their first appearance in NGF 2003. Also dominating the exhibits on display in the 250 stalls in the 12,500 square-meter exhibition hall will be leading brands like Raymonds, Arvind Mills, Lee, Wrangler, Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Killer Jeans continuing their association with NGF 2003. On the buyers front retailers houses like Shoppers Stop, Westside, Globus, Pantaloon, Lifestyle, Ebony, Snowhite will be a part of the fair.
Says Mr. Premal Udani, President CMAI, The CMAI has been organizing the National Garment Fair (NGF) since the sixties to promote the local garment industry, which at that time comprised mainly of small and medium sized garment manufacturing factories. The scenario has changed ever since the brands and franchisee approach gained importance as a result of the role that NGF played, of providing an interface between the manufacturers and retailers in various segments of the garment industry."
NGF 2003 has seen an increase of 20% participation since last August 2002. The key participating brands come from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Indore, Hyderabad, etc.
