Bajaj Auto launches The Wind125 in Delhi

Bajaj Auto has launched the world bike 'Wind125' in the markets of Delhi. Wind 125 is Bajaj Auto's latest offering in the executive bike segment and with the launch of Wind125, Bajaj Auto is all set to increase its presence in the country's largest executive bike segment. Wind125 is expected to fit into the gap between the existing Caliber 115 and 150cc Pulsar.

Bajaj Auto and its technology partners Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) Japan, have developed the World Bike - Wind 125 for the Indian and global markets. The Wind125 will be jointly marketed in a phased manner across the globe.

Available in Silver Magic, Flame Red, Star Blue, Ash Black and Candy Blue, the executive bike is competitively priced at Rs. 44,102/- with Drum Breaks and Rs. 46,081/- with Disc breaks (ex-showroom) and comes with a 2 year / 40,000 km warranty.

Said Mr. R.L. Ravichandran, "The Wind125 is designed to deliver the best of performance, comfort, safety and reliability for the executive motorcycle rider. The best R&D minds both in India and Japan have in a collaborative effort developed a highly refined product with an international appeal. This is our second grand offering in the executive segment after the success of Caliber 115, the Hoodibaba bike. Apart from the domestic sales Wind125 will have a special thrust on exports."

The Bajaj Wind125, India's first World Bike will be manufactured at the state-of-the-art motorcycle plant at Waluj. Kawasaki has identified Bajaj Auto's Waluj facility as a Global Hub for sub-250 cc range of Kawasaki Motorcycles. These motorcycles will be manufactured in Waluj for serving the worldwide Kawasaki sales network in addition to the Indian market.

The Wind 125 comes with a meaty 4-stroke 125cc K-TEC engine offering 10.8 Ps power. The Constant Velocity (CV) carburettor brings greater throttle response and overwhelming power delivery. Its 5 speed synchronized transmission augments smoother engine revving while pulling a lot with amazing ease and grace. A unique feature is the primary kick start mechanism which enables starting of the Wind 125 in any gear.

The bike comes with an arresting dual tone making it truly unmistakable on road. The face of Wind125 is a dazzling trapezoidal optoprism headlamp and the signature silencer with Kawasaki etched protection shield accentuates the sporty aesthetics of the bike. The contoured 13-liter fuel tank with attractive decals and an aluminum die cast grab rail seamlessly combine style and purpose.

The Wind 125 has a long stroke HydroDynamic suspension designed for comfort even on rough roads. The ergonomically designed seat and a saddle height of 800 mm provide for a great riding posture. The aerodynamic frame geometry makes for stability and glide like handling.

The Wind 125 comes with a Pass switch for safer overtaking. A 240 mm Disc brake (optional) in front and 130-mm drum brakes in the rear makes for surer braking. The wheelbase of 1260 mm assures maximum stability. MFR indicators and tail lamp increase visibility at night. An Optoprism Halogen headlamp makes streetlights redundant, even on the darkest of nights. All of which makes for safer riding.

During the past two years, Bajaj Auto has consistently outperformed in the motorcycle segment. For the three months ended June 2003, the company has recorded a growth rate of 11.2 percent with sales of 240530 motorcycles compared to 216376 motorcycles for the same period last year. Bajaj Auto is currently the largest exporter of two wheelers in India with export sales of 94133 units in 2002-03.
