Thomas Schmelter appointed GM for new Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon

IHG, the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms, today announced the appointment of Thomas Schmelter as General Manager of Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon to be launched mid 2007. In his new responsibility, Thomas will be responsible for managing the brand defining new Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon. He has been part of the IHG Group since 1989.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Herrmann, area director operations, South West Asia, IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), said, “We are delighted to welcome Thomas Schmelter as the GM of Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon. Thomas Schmelter has previously worked with InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UK and Germany, and most recently was General Manager of the Crowne Plaza, Jeddah.

Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon will have state-of-the-art facilities with 234 rooms including suites. The hotel has catering facilities for over 1000 people in its conference and banquet rooms apart from two restaurants and one lounge bar. The hotel is coming up with the country’s first Brazilian restaurant, ‘Wildfire’, ‘Connexions’, a lounge and bar and Café G, an all day live cooking buffet-restaurant. Health and spa facilities will also be available at the hotel.
