Reliance Communications adds 1.4 million new mobile subscribers

Reliance Communications, ranked among Asia’s 6 topmost valuable telecom companies, today announced a record 1.4 mn net subscriber additions on its mobile network during the month of May 2007. With a slew of attractive offers launched for during the month of May, Reliance Communications registered a 40% growth in net subscriber additions over previous month.

“The tremendous customer response to the initiatives taken by Reliance Communications have been the prime drivers behind the significant 40% increase in subscriber growth rate”, said Mr. S.P. Shukla, President – Personal Business, Reliance Communications. “We are confident that our new innovative offerings, based on our research insights, like zero roaming tariffs, most affordable lifetime validity recharge and ILD call rates at par with domestic calling would further enhance the growth momentum. These value propositions supported by segmented offerings like Rs. 1888 colour FM radio, Rs. 1234 color and Rs. 777 monochrome handsets offer significant benefits to Reliance customers”, he added.

Reliance Communications became the first telecom operator to do away with roaming rates by launching India Roam Free Plans, soon after slashing roaming tariffs by over 70%. To propel the growth in the marketplace, the company announced a 50% cut in lifetime validity recharge vouchers bringing the price down to Rs. 499. In another significant initiative, Reliance Communications brought calling rates from India to US and Canada virtually at par with domestic calling at Rs. 1.75 per minute on Reliance Global Call Card. With India – UK landline tariffs at Rs. 2.99 per minute and India – Gulf at Rs. 6.99 per minute, Reliance Global Call cards are the most affordable international calling solution available in the country today.
