Taj Announces Its First Gateway Property In Hinjewadi, Pune

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has entered into a Management Contract for a Gateway Hotel in Hinjewadi, Pune with Paranjape Schemes Construction Ltd. This new hotel will be a part of the Taj Business Hotels portfolio.

Speaking on this development, Mr. Jamshed S. Dabboo, COO, Taj Business Hotels, said, “The launch of our first Gateway hotel in Pune is further to our endeavour of aggressive domestic expansion. In the last few years, Pune has emerged as a favoured business and investment destination and economic growth center in the country with a diversified mix of industries such as IT, ITeS, Automobiles and Manufacturing. This strategic move will help us consolidate our position in Pune which is one of our key cities in the domestic circuit.”

Indian Hotels has strategically focused on Hinjewadi for its second property as it is the fastest growing IT and Biotech site in Pune, with a large corporate clientele base. The location for the new Gateway property is advantageously located about 1/2 km from Phase 1 of Hinjewadi along the road leading to the Pune-Mumbai expressway. The hotel will also be located in the vicinity of major areas of economic development where companies such as Infosys, Wipro, Tata Technologies, Cognizant, among others have already set up their bases, while Deloitte Consulting, HP, Dell Computers, TCS are amongst the 100 odd companies planning to be a part of the next phase of development in Hinjewadi.

The Gateway hotel will be a 150 room mid-market hotel, with a multi-cuisine restaurant, a bar, banqueting, meeting and business center facilities and a Health Club. There shall be additional car parking facilities within the premises.

Paranjape Schemes are one of the largest and most respected developers in Pune. The founders were involved in the development of suburbs of Mumbai such as Borivali and Vile Parle before relocating to Pune. The company has pioneered housing for senior citizens, and owns/ manages the famous ‘Athishri’ project. The proposed project is the first hotel venture of the company.
