New Delhi, August 08
Sierra Atlantic, the leader in information technology services for enterprise applications and outsourced product development (OPD) today announced that it has acquired ArrAy, Inc., a Boston-based software engineering services firm with global delivery centers in Guangzhou and Shanghai, China. The combined entity after the companies assimilate operations will have more than 1,500 employees worldwide.
“By expanding our operations into China, we will not only provide greater delivery capabilities and flexibility but also enable our customers to more aggressively pursue the developing local Chinese market,” said Raju Reddy, Chairman and CEO, Sierra Atlantic. “The combination of the two companies will create the ‘Largest IT Services Company in South China,’ serving US and European customers for the New Oracle Economy (which Sierra Atlantic has defined as Oracle, Peoplesoft, Siebel, Agile) and Outsourced Product Development and Testing Services.”
“Sierra Atlantic has been an excellent partner servicing our IT needs over 4 years,” said Werner Baer, Vice President of IT, PPG Industries. “They have consistently met our needs, and, for a fast growing company like PPG, their global delivery capabilities are highly valued. In particular, as PPG is expanding operations significantly in China, Sierra Atlantic’s expansion into that market opens additional opportunities for us to leverage lower cost services locally that have the appropriate language skills.”
China Capabilities
ArrAy is one of only a few U.S. companies to have successfully developed a high quality delivery capability in China, where it has experienced a CAGR of nearly 200 percent over the past three years. This success mirrors Sierra Atlantic’s consistent growth. The corporate vision of these combined entities will be even better able to serve the needs of its Global customers.
The new China operations will augment Sierra Atlantic’s operations in Hyderabad, India, adding expanded geography as well as complementary services. The expanded geographic presence will enable Sierra Atlantic to meet the increasing demands of its customers, providing offshore delivery from both India and China.
“We are excited about the additional opportunities we can pursue with the increased resources and capabilities that Sierra Atlantic provides and the expanded client base that we can serve,” said Charlie Palmer, co-CEO, ArrAy. “Our employees are very eager about the prospects of integrating our sales and delivery teams and providing our clients the best software development services the world has to offer from India, China and the United States.”
Ralph Rodriquez, Senior Vice President and Group Director of Technology Markets at Aberdeen Group has conducted research on the Global Outsourcing Markets and the related customer benefits and notes “Our latest benchmark report shows that enterprise companies want their outsource provider to have a sophisticated global delivery capability to enable them to mitigate their single site, one country model as well as their future geo-political risks. The research validates that China is a growing market and key to companies who want to be closer to their customers. The double-digit growth of the mid-tier players is due in large part because of their ability to be more flexible and customer intimate. Many companies are expanding to Asia, and having a local presence is important to being able to address near-shore capabilities.”
Sierra Atlantic is also continuing its strong commitment to its rapidly growing delivery center in Hyderabad, India. The first phase of its seven-acre campus, which will support up to 1,500 consultants, is scheduled to be completed in October of this year.
