It is the year of the Gajner Palace, the property, a Grand Heritage Palace of the HRH Group of Hotels- Udaipur, is set to witness a series of high profile events showcasing the finest of Indian ethnic crafts, music and dance in the authentic heritage ambience of Royal Rajasthan.
Gajner Palace, was built as a summer palace-resort on the banks of Gajner Lake in early twentieth century by the then Maharaja, Sir Ganga Singhji. Today the palace stands proud, sensitively restored to come alive for visitors from all across the world who are discovering the sprawling palace complex as an un-spoilt destination away from the maddening crowds.
"Just a four hours drive from Jodhpur, and barely half-an-hour's drive from Bikaner, Gajner Palace is fast becoming the preferred getaway for tourists and corporate executives alike," said Mr. Jitendra Singh Rathore, President of the HRH Group of Hotels. "The charm of Gajner Palace lies its versatility… ideal for glittering weddings, it is at the same time also suited for small conferences. Guests, particularly honeymooners, who love the outdoors have options for nature-walks and safaris into the 6000-acre wildlife sanctuary," he added.
With tourism emphasis clearly focused on the 'undiscovered', Gajner Palace's splendour as a destination will be in the fore as Shri Arvind Singhji Mewar, Chairman HRH Group talks about tapping the potential of heritage tourism on 10 January at the tourism session of 2nd Pravasi Bhartiya Divas celebrations.
Gajner Palace is distinguished for its red sandstone architecture; an imposing facade dotted with jharokhas, sit-outs and terraces overlooking the Gajner Lake and the sanctuary- a romantic setting that recreates the splendour of royal Rajasthan.
The Grand Heritage Palace has 11 historic suites well appointed with four-poster beds, period furniture and mirrors. There are 41 deluxe rooms spread across the palace complex. Modern facilities and amenities have transformed Gajner Palace while the essence of its royal past has been sensitively preserved.
Built on the shores of the Gajner Lake, the palace has been likened to a jewel of the Thar desert. Gajner Lake has been the regular watering hole for thousands of migratory birds. Over the years, Gajner is becoming well known as a bird-watchers' paradise. "The Imperial Sand grouse, tufted ducks, pintails and moorhens are just some of the bird species that are spotted at the Gajner Lake and in the smaller lakes around the wildlife sanctuary," said Mr. Vipul Verdia, General Manager of the HRH Group.
