The wait is over! The Westside & Bharatstudent.com Style Showdown, a 9-city fashion contest, hosted its finals in Secunderabad at RRC Grounds, Railway Nilayam where NIFT walked away with the first prize. Earlier this month, during the preliminary auditions, 30 colleges participated, of which 8 were short listed to participate in the finals to showcase their talent in fashion and choreography. The jury for the finals included ace model Anupama Verma and popular MTV VJs Cyrus Sahukar and Mia.

The prizes this year has gotten even bigger! The winning college was awarded a whopping Rs. 3 lakh for their internal development and the triumphant team of the college was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000. Photo-FIT Institute, the runners-up, too won a cash prize of Rs 15,000. That’s not all, Westside has also given an opportunity to Harsh from NIFT and Neha from Photo-FIT Institute selected by the jury to get their portfolios made in Mumbai.

Commenting on the event, Anupama Verma said, “It was an excellent show put up by the contestants. The effort put in by the students is really commendable, and the theme given to them was brought out extremely well. Watching them through this performance was fun, but at the same time, it was difficult to make the final selection!”

Jury members also named Sunny from Photo-FIT as the Bharatstudent.com Dude and Ridhima from NIFT as the Bharatstudent.com Diva of the evening, who have won Rs 25,000 each.

A student from NIFT said, “This was an unbelievable event! It was great fun, and very challenging. We had to really combine our skills, to come up with something we knew would wow the judges and the crowd. We look forward to such events which enable us to present our fashion skills on such a grand scale.”

The final event concluded the month long fun filled activity in grand style. Students sashayed the ramp in smart and chic clothing from Westside as they showcased their talent of combining the best of fashion, modeling, music and choreography. The judges evaluated the colleges on the basis of style quotient, choreography, choice of music, hair and makeup, and of course, overall presentation.
