Shopper's Stop Ltd. Q3 FY08 Retail Turnover at Rs 3409 mn up by 30% Profit After Tax at Rs 15.6 mn

Retail turnover of Rs. 3409 mn in the third quarter ended December 2007 as compared to Rs. 2628 mn for the same period last year.

Gross Margin rose by 112 basis points to 32.6% at Rs.1101 mn for the quarter as compared to 31.5% at Rs. 812 mn posted in the corresponding quarter last year.

For nine months ended December 31, 2007, Retail turnover stood at Rs.8808 mn up 33% over corresponding nine months last year. Gross Margin rose by 115 basis points to 32.7% at Rs.2845 mn for the nine months as compared to 31.5% at Rs. 2059 mn posted in the corresponding period last year.

Mr. B. S. Nagesh, Customer Care Associate & Managing Director of Shopper's Stop Ltd., said, "The Company was successful in achieving the targeted revenues for the crucial festive season quarter. Our catalogue retailing business was piloted in this quarter. During the quarter we added 142,271 sq ft of area across various formats taking our total retail area to 1.51 mn. Sq.ft."

Mr. Govind Shrikhande, Customer Care Associate & CEO of Shopper's Stop Ltd., said, "This festive-season quarter has seen exceptionally strong sales in non apparel category reflecting our ever changing and evolving brand offering to match consumer preferences.

The company's loyalty programme, First Citizen had over 971,000 members accounting for 65% of the sales in the quarter. The total number of Customer Care Associates stands at 3662 as at the end of Q3FY08.

Shoppers Stop and its retail invested companies operate the following number of stores/doors as on date.

Shoppers' Stop – Currently has 23 stores with a presence in 12 cities.

Home Stop Stores (Home Décor) – Currently has 3 stores with a presence in 3 cities

Arcelia – Currently has stores in Pune and Delhi.

Stop & Go (Airport Retailing) – Currently has 1 store at domestic airport, Mumbai.

Mothercare (Maternal & Infant Care) – The exclusive franchise agreement with Mothercare Plc UK. Currently has 17 stores of Mothercare (including 9 Shop-in-shops) with a presence in 8 cities.

Crossword (Book stores) – Currently the tally of Crossword stores is 46.

Brio, Desi Café and Food court (Food & Beverages) – Currently, the total tally is 22 doors with 2 of Desi café, 18 of Café Brio and 2 Food Courts with a presence in 8 cities.

M.A.C (Cosmetics) – The retail agreement with Estee Lauder to open M.A.C stores. Currently has 4 stores with a presence in Mumbai , Bangalore and Delhi.

Clinique (Cosmetics) – Under the retail agreement with Estee Lauder the first Clinique store was opened in Delhi in October 07.
