Mudra Institute of Communications Research (MICORE) has appointed Dr. Ang Peng Hwa as its visiting Dean. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Peng Hwa was the Director at the Singapore Internet Research Centre, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Commenting on the new appointment, Mr. Madhukar Kamath, Chairman of the Mudra Foundation says, "MICORE is our second venture after MICA. I am happy that we have an internationally reputed academician as its visiting Dean. He will be mentoring research under the aegis of MICORE in areas such as integrated communications, semiotics and social & developmental communications. Additionally, he will be helping us accelerate the search for a Dean".
Dr. Ang Peng Hwa, Visiting Dean, MICORE says, "I am excited about the prospect for MICORE. We have a strong and committed management team, and we are attracting a great deal of research interest both domestically and internationally. I am very confident that the foundation for a great communication research centre is being laid".
Dr. Peng Hwa has a strong educational background. He is a Bachelor of Law from the National University of Singapore and a Postgraduate Practice Law Course from Board of Legal Education, Singapore. He also has a degree from University of Southern California, Los Angeles and a Mass Media Ph.D from Michigan State University.
He was the Director of the Singapore Internet Research Centre which he founded in 2003. Dr. Ang Chairs the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). In the year 2000, Dr. Ang Peng Hwa was honoured by Fulbright Award at Harvard University. The following year, he was a visiting scholar at Oxford University. He has visited and lectured at universities all over the world.
A qualified lawyer, Dr. Peng Hwa was a journalist and editor in Singapore working for a Singapore daily, as well as publications in Southeast Asia.
