First Ibis hotel opens in India in NCR

InterGlobe Hotels, a Joint Venture between Interglobe Enterprises and French hotel group Accor set up in 2004 to develop a chain of hotels in India under the Ibis brand, today announced that the first Ibis hotel in India opened in Gurgaon, in the National Capital Region. This is the first of a series of Ibis hotels being developed by the joint venture in India.

The Ibis Gurgaon is located on the prominent Golf Course artery and features contemporary European styling, 217 rooms, an all day dinning restaurant, bar and meeting room. The hotel is uniquely positioned in the Indian hotel pricing spectrum, at Rs. 4400, being priced at less than half of upscale hotels.

Ibis hotels in India will provide a value offer and will cater to the burgeoning business and leisure travelers in India. The brand espouses the values of quality, simplicity and value and will be positioned as the best value international hotels in India, for those consumers willing to trade off luxuries but not comfort. Casual and friendly, the hotels will feature an outstanding room with modular bathroom, quality food and beverage and a high-tech environment.

InterGlobe Hotels today has a further 11 Ibis hotels at various stages of development across India, adding up to 2045 rooms, exceeding the initial short-term targets. Ibis hotels under development are located at Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Ibis Pune and Mumbai are likely to be operational before mid 2009.

InterGlobe Hotels has an active development programme for Ibis hotels in India and it is expected that another six Ibis hotel sites will be added in 2008.

The Ibis development project in India is part of a major expansion of the brand across the Asia Pacific region. Up to 200 Ibis hotels are planned for China, while Ibis is also growing strongly in Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.
