Yamaha Motor Corporation, the world's second-largest motorcycle maker, has appointed Mr. Yukimine Tsuji as the new CEO & MD of its Indian arm - India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM). Mr. Yukimine Tsuji, currently the manufacturing head at IYM, takes over from Mr. Tsutomu Mabuchi.
The company has also appointed Mr. Koji Arai as Director, Sales & Marketing. Mr. Takahiro Maeda, who was heading this function, has moved back to Japan after successfully completing a stint of three and half years. He is credited with launching two very successful bikes during his tenure.
Mr. Tsuji who has been heading manufacturing for Yamaha in India for more than a year says, "My knowledge and experience of working in several countries across the world, including Japan and US, would help me in steering the company as it enters a fast growth phase in India. Our focus would remain on elevating the biking experience of Indian consumers by providing them the best biking technology available".
Mr. Mabuchi, who was appointed as the CEO in January 2008 will now look after an important assignment in Yamaha Motor Corporation, Japan.
The year 2008 has been an exciting year for Yamaha with the launch of several new models. YZF-R15 and FZ16 have gone on to become the favorites of Youth. The company has also reaped the benefits of being the pioneers of super-bikes in the country with MT01 and YZF-R1 doing quite well.
