Dishtv has extended its tie up with Shah Rukh Khan for endorsing its brand for another 18 months. As brand ambassador, the King Khan will play a key role in brand and product communication on television, in print and outdoor media. Dishtv the largest DTH player in the country had first tied up with Shah Rukh Khan in 2007 to endorse its DTH service.

Commenting on the occasion Salil Kapoor, COO, Dishtv said “Shah Rukh Khan has been around for a long time, and has become a bankable name. He is the only one who has proved to be consistent for last seventeen years (since the release of his first movie in 1992). Moreover, SRK cuts across age groups and demographics and appeals to a universal audience just like our products and was therefore a natural fit for the brand. We believe his endorsement of Dishtv reinforces the attributes of the brand and reiterate the positioning “Thoda Aur Wish Karo. Dish Karo”.

The biggest plus about the actor Shah Rukh Khan is that he holds self-made man image. The common Indian man associates with him and aspires to become Shah Rukh Khan. The other plus about Shah Rukh Khan is his image of down-to-earth, approachable person and his ability of straddling the classes and the masses.
The economic slowdown may have hit several industrial sectors of the country, but it has proved fruitful for the DTH industry.
Economic slowdown has affected DTH industry positively as people have started controlling their entertainment bills by not going much outside for movies rather sticking to their TVs more and TV has become cheapest form of entertainment as of now. During July, August and September in 2008, DTH industry was adding six lakh subscribers per month but the base jumped to one million in October, November and December when the impact of slowdown was actually being felt on the economy.
Dishtv has posted robust numbers in Q3 FY09 and has consolidated its leadership position despite economic slowdown and entry of two new players like Reliance & Airtel. Dishtv aims to reach 8 million subscribers by next fiscal.

Gross sales and operating revenues in Q3 FY09 is Rs. 1927 million as compared to Rs. 1121 million in the corresponding period in FY08 representing a 72% growth over the Q3 revenues in the previous fiscal.
The Nine months revenue for FY09 stood at Rs. 5305 million, an increase of 92% from the corresponding period last year.
Dishtv has added 7.89 Lacs subscribers in the Q3 FY 09 as compared to 5.29 lacs new subscribers added during Q2, registering an increase of 49%.
To beat competition and woo more viewers, Dish TV recently announced a Recharge Free offer to its existing and new subscribers. The new initiative is in line with our vision to add three million subscribers and touch the eight million mark by next fiscal.In the countdown to celebrate 25 million viewers dishtv is offering an action packed bonanza of latest and critically acclaimed movies back to back in the next one month starting from 5th February. Dishtv is offering latest Bollywood Blockbuster – Fashion and Hollywood Blockbuster Hancock First Time on Indian Television, DTH premiere of A Wednesday & Da Vinchi Code and just released DEV D over their Premiere Channel on Movie-on-Demand (MoD) service within 3 weeks of its theatrical release.
