Sashi Mukundan is appointed as Country Head of BP India, with effect from 1st March 2009. He has taken over from Dr. Ashok Jhawar, who, after 35 years of service, is retiring from BP.

Sashi Mukundan brings almost three decades of experience across upstream, midstream and downstream hydrocarbon sectors. During his recent tenure as the Country Manager for E&P and Gas in India, BP has established a presence in the upstream sector in India with the award of a Coal Bed Methane (CBM) block in Birbhum district of West Bengal and a deepwater exploration block in the Krishna Godavari basin. He has also been instrumental in starting BP’s LNG trading activities in India.

Sashi Mukundan started his career in California in 1981 with ARCO (BP’s predecessor company) and has worked on a variety of strategic assignments in most of the Asia Pacific region.

BP’s investments in India include Castrol India Limited and Tata BP Solar. In addition, BP India is also operating in the upstream sector with one deepwater and one Coal Bed Methane block. BP also has interest in Biofuels and the trading of crude oil, LNG, oil products and chemicals in India.
