Celebrating Paris in all its vibrancy, the collection represents the glamour, energy and passion of Paris- indigo blue, bright red and luxurious gold which can sported both during the day and night! Striking primary hues saturate the collection as it features rich royal blues for eyes and velvety matte reds for lips.
The collection symbolizes Lancome given its femininity but also its extreme simplicity and comfort, combined with audaciousness and creativity.
The Collection:
Declaring Indigo, is a celebration of hues of blue mixed with shades of gold and a dash of bright red to create a striking collection that is ultra contemporary yet elegant for the modern, irreverent, and free-spirited woman.
The collection only contains three colors but they’re explored to their fullest & the shades are pushed to their extreme, with newness coming from the twisting textures and the twisting applications. Declaring Indigo returns to metallic textures for the eyes and very mat blanketing, opaque colors on the lips.
Aaron De Mey uses the Declaring Indigo platform as a preview to present the first ever gel liner brush created for Lancome. Made with the softest hair available the brush is a simplified tool to apply liquid liners or gel cream liners.
The second brush introduced within the Fall 09 collection is a powder brush, which is very large and has an angle to it. It’s very soft to the touch and it delivers a very light application.
Playing with the bold and daring aura of red, the collection offers two red lipsticks: one infusing into an orange base, adding versatility to the collection, while the other into a deeper, grape toned red to add more drama and strength. Available in a mat texture the result is very blanketing and plumping at the same time.
To bring a new dimension and sparkle to the lips the collection boasts of gold and a red Color Fever gloss, giving you the option of wearing the lip mat or glossy, depending on your preference or comfort.
The highlight of the collection is the vivacious Palette Liberty –the eye shadow palettes in shades of indigo and gold. Created with metallic effects and sparkle to make the shades softer, there are two selections of the gold eye shadow: more of a light toned gold and a deeper bronze gold that you can choose depending on your skin coloring.
Created to keep continuity and strength of the collection the signature colors of the collection- gold and indigo find way in the vibrant Le Vernis- nail polish selection and the mystic Le Kohl duo.
The Creator:
Irreverent, free spirited and a creative genius Aaron De Mey, the Make up Artistic Director, Lancome, combines these three elements to create the Fall09 Declaring Indigo.
For Aaron, it’s all about twisting ideas, clashing textures and opposites, about breaking rules slightly and at the same time keeping elegance within each collection.
Understanding the indefinable charm that makes every woman unique, Aaron brings to Lancome, colors and textures that make women feel free to experiment with them as they please, and to design different kinds of styles.
The inspiration for the collection came from ideas of French Revolution with a focus on red, white and blue; and a particular focus on indigo blue, being the color of Paris. He then decided to accent this color statement with touches of royal and luxurious gold which also added light and life resulting in a dramatic and daring make-up statement.
Says Aaron, "For me, Declaring Indigo is really about opening up the options and giving women the freedom to play. That’s why I have created two palettes and strong color statements for the eyes as well as for the lips - so that women have the choice to adjust their make-up according to their desired result."
The Muse:
Depicting a French irreverent woman, Daria Werbowy symbolizes a free spirited and confident woman who does whatever she wants to do. A combination of sophistication and youthfulness, Daria has a great twist on style and on elegance, which is synonymous with the collection.
