Intex Technologies opened today, at Lanka Road, Varanasi its 12th store in the exclusive small format retail chain by the name of Intex Square.
The company made a debut in this segment in Sep, 2009 and has been rolling out such stores quite aggressively. The focus of Intex Square outlets is to give to the consumer a total product experience through touch and feel in a pleasing ambience, assisted by trained counter sales personnel.
The new store, set up in association with M/s K.R. Enterprise- one of Intex's distributors in the area- displays the entire range of Intex's end-consumer products on its shelves - Mobile Phones, PCs, TFT LCD Monitors, Multimedia Speakers, DVD Players, UPS, Cabinets, Web Cameras, Keyboards, Mouse, Headphones, to name just a few. Spread over 350 sq ft area, it has been done up in a modern format utilizing concepts of interior design to facilitate storage & display and ensure a complete technology experience to consumers.
Currently, Intex is setting up the stores in association with its committed channel partners. These partners have been selected from a vast network of more than 2000 distributors and have a good track record & sound standing in the market. This strategy signifies the extension of the mutually beneficial relationship to the next level. As the retail activity progresses, the company may evolve other models also for expansion.
The company has planned an investment of more than Rs. 100 crores for the Intex Square initiative up to the period ending March, 2011. Based on current reckoning, it aims to open more than 100 such exclusive retail outlets by March, 2011.
Through this chain, the company also aims to enhance the brand equity in the consumer's mind. This objective is further being supported by Intex's policy of increasing the width and depth of its reach, a major expansion in its service network and investment in its IT infrastructure for both sales & service. Other initiatives by Intex in the Retail sector include positioning of its products at more than 130 hyper markets and specialty chains pan India.
Inaugurating the store, Ms. Nidhi Markanday, AGM-Retail, shared "We have had a good exposure to the retail segment through our shop-in-shop endeavour started about two years ago. We took this to the next level in Sep, 2009 by opening our first Intex Square (at Meerut, UP). Today, in a span of just six months, we have 12 Intex Square outlets in operation. The rate of growth has been quite satisfying. There is a dedicated team to look after the operations and a strong after sales service back-up comprising of more than 300 service points."

Apart from Varanasi, the Intex Square 's have been opened at Meerut, Muzzafarnagar, Saharanpur, Rampur, Hapur, Sitapur, Bijnore in UP ; Roorkee & Dehradun in Uttarakhand ; Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and Amritsar in Punjab.
