Countless Indian adults are now addicted to console games, internet and mobile games. The hardcore gamers own playstation and Xboxes too. Now many of these adults have started looking towards personification games that are based on Indian themes and characters such as Amar Chitra Katha, Chandragupta Maurya, Mumbai Underworld, Teen Patti and Chanakya.
Many companies are building India specific games to attract these gamers. Sony came up with Hanuman: Boy Warrior, Ibibo.com launched teen patti, Yes prime minister and Mumbai Underworld. While India has a decent gaming population, there is no poignant localisation in terms of content. The mobile space has finished some advance in this context, though overall, there are singular options when it comes to games with Indian themes.
According to Ernst Young, a Indian gaming attention was estimated during $167 million (Rs 750 crore) in 2008 and is forecasted to grow during a CAGR of 49% to strech $830 million (Rs 3,730 crore) by 2012. Currently, console-based gaming is estimated to have a 35% share and Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are in this space in India.
Cricket works best in India. And these games are replicated by ibibo.com, Yahoo and others. While online gaming is a new phenomenon, estimates put it that online gamers in India has soared from 2.8 million in 2007 to 7.2 million by 2008 to 15 million in 2011. Social networking is pushing online gaming.
Consumer trends are confident towards online and mobile gaming and there will be good attention growth. Amicable networking is spurring online and mobile gaming to decent numbers.
The volume of amicable games is large compared to console. Social networking is opening adult in India and, in turn, bringing in some-more gaming volumes. 40% of Facebook users indulge in amicable gaming and this is one area where there is poignant localisation. Localisation can be in terms of denunciation or themes or diversion concepts.
Different people have attempted several things with internal themes and a mobile space is where a limit movement happens in this context. A lot of calm is combined around cricket, Bollywood and radio shows.
