Godfrey Philips India, one of the largest cigarette makers in the country, today announced the launch of “Cigaroma – The Cigar Shop”. The first of its kind, exclusive shop for, Cigars, Cigarettes and Cigar Smoking Accessories, at the renowned luxury mall, UB City, Bengaluru. Cigaroma’s objective is to create awareness amongst the discerning consumers about Premium Cigars, and Cigarettes available in the market as well as to provide an opportunity to the consumers to interact and understand the products better.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Arun Joshi, Vice President, Godfrey Phillips India said,”Consumerism and changing lifestyles is leading to a growing preference for premium, sophisticated and fashionable products. We saw this as an opportunity to launch an exclusive Cigar Shop and that was the beginning of “Cigaroma.” Cigar is as one knows considered a symbol of life style, status, authority, power and also flash value.”
He further added, “Cigaroma has two formats- one is the shop/exclusive outlet which are bigger and the smaller is Express shops which are present at shopping malls across various cities. We expect an annual Turnover of Rs 1 Crore from the Cigaroma outlet at Bangalore. Next outlets are being planned at Mumbai at first and then at New Delhi.”
Cigaroma offers well known premium brands in varied types and flavors of cigar including Habanos SA from Cuba, Oettinger Davidoff from Switzerland, Altadis and Scandinavian Tobacco Group from Holland and smoking accessories like Humidors, Cigar Cutters, Humi Pouches, Cigar Lighters, Ashtrays, Cigar cases etc from Coiba Brand (Spain) of Habanos SA, and Siglo Brand from Pacific Cigar company, Hong Kong.
Godfrey Phillips India is the first corporate to import cigars in India, for importing and selling cigars. Some of the most popular brands that Godfrey Phillips India sells in the country are FS1, Four Square, Stellar, Red & White, Cavanders and Tipper. Furthermore, Godfrey Phillips India also manufactures and sells Malboro in the Indian market. Godfrey Phillips India has made intensive efforts in the Tea City, confectionary Fundamint and has launched Pan Vilas pan masala successfully.
Mr. Arun Joshi also added, “Today Godfrey Phillips India is the largest cigar distributor in India with 65% market share. After finding an encouraging response to our cigar brands in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Pune, we decided to open the first Cigaroma outlet in Bangalore. Cigars have arrived and are now seen as a lifestyle product. We also have products for all preferences and they are more accessible now. The demand for niche products is opening up in India.”
He also shared, “Cigars are incomplete without accessories. We guide our customer to pick the right accessories whenever they walk into the shop. You will find shelves stocked with accessories like metal cutters, glass or steel ashtrays and even different brands of humidors. Cutting a cigar correctly is an art and you have a better tasting smoke if you cut it right.”
