The Vodafone Foundation in association with DASRA recently launched the 'World of Difference' programme. Running in 21 other countries, 'World of Difference' programme allows you to donate yourself to your chosen charity and get paid for your time.
In India, twenty Vodafone employees have been selected to work with a dedicated NGO for a period of five weeks. Many will leave their home, family and friends to travel far and wide to apply their skills to a charitable cause in a completely new environment. These are the initial days for these Vodafone employees at each of their NGOS as they settle in their new locations spread across the country from Dharamsala in the North to Madurai down South.
Chetan Chauhan, Deputy Manager of the Customer Service Enterprise team with Vodafone India will leave his home in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and base himself in the Latur district of Maharashtra. Chetan will be assisting Pride India in the running of their mobile health clinic which provides a life critical service for those living in remote areas. Chetan is committed to making a real difference on the ground.
Laura Turkington, Director, Vodafone India Foundation said, "The Vodafone Foundation is delighted to launch the World of Difference programme in India and the response has been very encouraging so far. World of Difference provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for passionate people to give back to society in the most meaningful way by donating their time. Our NGO partners will benefit greatly from an additional resource which is a huge advantage in current economic times".
DevalSanghavi, CEODASRA said, "We are very excited to partner with the Vodafone Foundation on this initiative where giving time is an integral part of philanthropy. The impact of professional mentoring is immense, as it gives non-profit organisations access to incredible business expertise. This thereby enables them to build stronger organisations which can create greater impact."
