Welcome Experience
The hotel accorded a resplendent traditional welcome for Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar at the newly-renovated hotel lobby. A traditional aarti and tikka was extended to welcome these two legends in true Taj style. The same traditional welcome experience was given to Katy Perry – who will be the showstopper at the IPL opening ceremony tomorrow. Overwhelmed by the ponnadai (shawl) wrapped around her by the hotel's general manager N Prakash, she said, "Thank you so much for having me here!"
Suite Experience
Following the grand welcome, Katy Perry was taken to the Royal Suite, a unique expression of splendour and sophistication, and the most-preferred luxurious residential option for visiting dignitaries and Royalty. Host to Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Chennai, the Royal Suite is outstandingly-crafted for the affluent global explorers; luxury encompasses every element of a guest's stay, with personalised and warm service. The décor of this Suite gracefully blends the classic with the contemporary, and features a private terrace sit-out offering a breathtaking view of the city. This luxuriously-appointed suite includes a living room, two spacious bathrooms, and offers special experiences like a Jacuzzi, an additional guest bathroom, a separate dining area, a dressing room with 3-way mirrors and a pantry. Two highly-attentive and personalised lady butlers have been specially designated by the hotel to cater to Katy's every need.
The hotel has curated bespoke experiences in the suite, which has been prepared with personalised towels, bathrobes, dressing gowns and bath linen with her initials on it; much to the liking of the singer. Bath salts and bath oils from Arnica, Bvlgari toiletries and natural handmade soap bars from Lush make up the rest of her personal preferences.
A fine selection of teas including Earl Grey, Egyptian Camomile, Castleton Rare Muscatel, Oragnic Green Tea, Jasmine Tea and English Breakfast Tea have been placed in the suite along with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese Col Di Sasso Castello Banfi for her indulgence.
Details of F&B offerings of the hotel
It was Southern Spice that grabbed Amitabh Bachchan's attention, who ordered lunch from this iconic South Indian specialty restaurant. Later in the evening, he sifted through the in-room menu and decided to opt for another meal from Southern Spice because he 'was impressed with what he had for lunch'.
Executive Chef Alok Anand surprised Sachin Tendulkar by presenting him a dessert platter to raise a toast to his 100 hundreds. The platter comprised of a delicious selection of Indian and western desserts, each representing the number of centuries hit every year by this Master Blaster. Sachin, who was all smiles said, "This is so unique! I definitely need to take a picture," and went on to proceed to click it a picture on his phone camera, "Thank you so much!"
