Asia's leading sports content provider ESPN Star Sports has launched School Quiz 2012 with HDFC Life as the title sponsor.
Based on the theme of Olympics, the school quiz will judge the sporting quotients of young minds across the country. The television rounds will see 72 teams, with 2 members each; vie for the 'India's Top Sports School Quiz Team' title. In order to make the television rounds of the quiz accessible to students across the country, ESPN Star Sports will hold a grand entrance exam for students studying in Class VI to Class X on April 08, 2012 in 23 cities across the country. ESPN Star Sports' presenter & commentator Alan Wilkins will host the quiz. The on-air telecast of HDFC Life School Quiz 2012 begins on June 01, 2012.
In this Olympic year, the Olympic edition of HDFC School Quiz 2012 is an important initiative by ESPN Star Sports to enthrall, entertain and educate sports fans across the country about the forthcoming sporting championships. The quiz show will also have a special section where-in famous current and past Indian Olympians will pose teaser questions to participating students. The televised broadcast of HDFC School Quiz 2012 precedes London Olympics 2012 which will also be showcased on ESPN Star Sports.

Format of the quiz
The written qualifier will be organized in 23 cities from four zones on April 08, 2012. More details can be sourced from www.espnstar.com
A total of 72 teams, 18 teams from each zone, will qualify for the TV rounds.
Stage 1 of the television round– The Zonal Qualifier – will have 6 episodes in each zone and therefore 6 winners from each zone.
Stage 2 –The Zonal Finals – will have 8 episodes in all – 2 episodes in each zone therefore 2 winners from each zone; and best lucky loser amongst all zones. A total of 9 teams will qualify for stage 3.
Stage 3– The National Semifinals – will have 3 episodes therefore 3 winners.
Stage 4 –TheNational Final – best of the three final; features 3 winners of the previous round. Therefore the quiz will have 37 episodes in all with a possibility of the 38th (if the best of three final series goes all the way).
