The Rabbit Hole Sessions aka the Wednesday Jams which happens every Wednesday at the Turquoise Cottage Vasant Vihar, brings out ignited spirits and seasoned musicians together in an informal session with no agenda or set formats. Like the proverbial trip down the 'Rabbit Hole', they promise an adventure in music, playing on the element of surprise and new moments of discovery through each session.

Dubbed as the best thing to happen to Delhi on a Wednesday night, the Rabbit Hole Sessions are ruled solely by an element of surprise following no pre-defined playlist but evolving into a unique mélange of music genres, sounds and talents all jamming together for the love of the craft. An evening at a Rabbit Hole Sessions can offer established names from the Indian music industry like violinist Sharat Chandra Srivastava (Mrigya), Dilip Ramachandran, The members of the Big Bang Blues and The last Puff jamming with new talent .

The past few Rabbit Hole Sessions have created an open platform for experimentation and a collective appreciation of different genres of music with more additions like Gautam Ghosh (of the Gautam Ghosh Collective Jazz based world music act), drummer Dilip Ramachandran (ex Parikrama), Miditech Executive director Nikhil Alva (who has also been a keyboardist through college life). A freewheeling interplay at the Rabbit Hole Session takes on new meaning imbibing current trends and creating new ones as it unfolds. From choir singers on Christmas to seasoned artists, the Rabbit Hole Session unfolds upcoming young bands, the big daddies of music and the element of surprise in a delightful package at one of Delhi's favorite music destinations, the Turquoise Cottage, Vasant Vihar.

The session is well moderated by Lalrinawma Tochhawng, known as Mama to all, who apart from being a musician himself (plays bass for North East Express) is also the founder of one of the most popular music festivals of India called "Escape Festival of Art and Music', which is held in Naukuchiataal ever year. As part of a commitment to the celebration of music in all its forms, Turquoise Cottage also supports the festival.

Organizers and Participants Comment:

Sharat Chandra Srivastava (Mrigya): Regarded as one of the best violinists around, Sharat has shared the stage with the likes of Sting, Pandit Birju Maharaj, and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and was one of the early members of India's best known rock band Parikrama.

"This is a must do for every musician, I feel more live here than in a regular gig. How often do us musicians get a chance to play what we like with musicians from bands other than our own. I don't miss these sessions for anything, unless I'm touring,' says Sharat Chandra Srivastava.

The Powell Brothers: Christopher and Desmond: Christopher, better known as Kitty is one of the most recognisable percussionist/drummers of the country. Over the years he has played with and nurtured bands like Nirvana (the Indian band from the 1980s), India's first pop rock act Euphoria and recently the Hindi-rock Bandish. Christopher 'Kitty' Powell: "There's a certain sense of belonging and more so freedom at these jams. I feel every bit of a musician when I play just on instinct jamming with my friends from the fraternity. The experience is incomparable with that of even my own concerts. This is a different space.'

Desmond is has been known for his controlled distortion led guitar playing abilities. He was a part of Niravan with Kitty and then moved on form his own band called True Colours in 2002, before the brothers came together again with Bandish.

Abhinav Dhar (Percussion/Drums):Co-founder of the well known ad agency Dhar and Hoon, responsible for some taglines like 'Yehi Hai Right Choice Baby, Aha!' (Pepsi), 'Tedha Hai Par Mera Hai' (Kurkure), 'Why Should Boys Have All the Fun' (TVS Scooty) and 'What's The Program' (Lays).

Gaurav Soral, owner and the man behind Turquoise Cottage says, "Turquoise Cottage has always stood for great music and great food. It was rare to find any places encouraging Indian bands in the nineties when we threw our doors open to our homegrown artistes. Now that the trend has assumed great proportion with the growth of Indian Independent music, we thought it'll be nice to give the same artistes a space to be themselves, play the music that they don't get to in the usual concerts and just jam on pure freewill, that's what the Rabbit Hole Sessions are about, pure unadulterated music..'
