Rachnoutsav Events Academy, a full-fledged Events Academy is launched here at Hyderabad. It is the first academy in South Asia to offer an integrated full-time learning program in event management and wedding planning. The academy is floated by Rachnoutsav Events, an events management company with over a decade of experience in the field.

Before the formal launch the academy has already accorded ABIA (Africa Bridal Industry Accreditation). A South African Wedding Planning School approached Rachnoutsav Events Academy for a possible tie-up to share their experience in handling Indian weddings as well as to train students in Indian Wedding Planning. As many Indians are living in South Africa, there is a huge demand for this service. Soon Rachnoutsav will be offering its Wedding Planning services in South Africa.

Giving details of the academy, Sanjay Kankaria, director of Rachnoutsav Events Academy said, "We will initially offer three courses in Event Management and one in Wedding Planning. These include Basic Professional Foundation Course in Event Management (BPFCEM), Advance Masters Course in Event Management (AMCEM) and Advanced Masters Course in Wedding Planning and Designing (AMCWP). These two courses are of 12 months duration each."

Rachnoutsav will set up five new training centres in next five years and will have 10 centres under franchisee arrangement. These centres will come up at Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Nagpur, Vizag, Pune, Bangalore and other places. Its game plan is to expand to several tier-2 and tier-3 cities in the country.

Adding further Sanjay added that BPFCEM is aimed at producing event management professionals for employment in the event management industry and related sectors. AMCEM course is for graduates in event management and is designed to develop practical event management and managerial skills. AMCWP will enable participants to develop and innovative and multi-skilled approach to planning and coordinating weddings.

Since there is no structured course curriculum readily available, Rachnoutsav Events Academy with the help of the industry experts and on the guidelines of Instruction Lead Training System is creating new modules. The industry doesn't have any benchmark. So we are creating with help of the industry experts, Sanjay said.

The academy has a campus centrally located in Hyderabad at Road No 2 in Banjara Hills. It has 7,500 sq.ft. area as well as 5000 sq.ft. parking area. It is also going to add additional 2000 sq.ft. area soon for cafeteria.

We also provide placement assistance through our networking advantage with over 100 top event management companies association EEMA (Entertainment and Event Management Association) in the country informed Mr. Sanjay.

Event Management is a skill. Unfortunately no Indian University recognises this. We hardly have any courses offered by any Indian Universities. Only a handful of institutions offer these courses in India, whereas in west we have lot of universities offering these courses. We have been in touch with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to recognise Event Management as a skill development, informed Sanjay.

Rachnoutsav Events Academy has also setup a studio in an area of 40,000 sq.ft. in Mallapur. Students of our courses here will practice events, demonstrate them. At the end of the 3rd semester, students can use this place for their Imprint event where they will showcase their newly acquired skill to their parents and family members. Though this additional facility required additional investment we still went for it because practical training is very important. Through our courses, we want to offer 40 per cent theory and 60 per cent practical training.

"In twelve years from now we have a plan in place to train well over 33,000 people in these courses, added Sanjay. The project cost envisaged over next ten years is Rs 75 crore," he said.

Today, event management is a multi billion dollar sunrise industry with many opportunities. It is growing at 14 to 15 per cent nationally both in metro cities and in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Advancements in technology are helping the industry in all the spheres – production, multi-location, exhibitions and marketing. The industry is increasingly getting more professional and corporatized with a compounded annual growth of 14 per cent, it is projected to be Rs. 5000 crores by 2015. We believe that this initiative and the resulting outcome will place Hyderabad amongst the leading entertainment education destinations in India and across the globe said Ms. Rakhi Kankaria, Founder and Director of Rachnoutsav Events Academy.

At present, the industry is at a nascent stage and quite unorganised, comprising mainly homemakers and self-employed businesspersons. Industry experts put the annual wedding and events spending at around Rs. 1,500 to 1,800 crore. The size of this industry which has been steadily growing over the last many years, has been estimated to be between 2,000 – 5,000 crore with contributions to the exchequer in excess of Rs 500 crore per annum. The event management industry in AP alone is put at around 300 to 500 crore.

There is an increasing number of universities, associations and societies which offer courses in event management and other aspects of the industry. Many career opportunities are available in areas like: event management, event management consultancy, hotel, travel and hospitality industries, advertising agencies, public relations firms, corporates, NGOs etc. For many organisations, event management is considered a valuable marketing and communication tool.
