Berger Paints, the fastest growing paint company in India, will now offer its entire range of decorative paints under the name ‘Lewis Berger’. A major re-branding initiative, the move is aimed at giving Berger a new identity under a new logo, in sync with the premium nature of the products.
Named after the founder of Berger paints, Lewis Berger will encompass a series of significant changes aimed at an overall brand upgrade. These include upgrade in the quality of paint, pack design, printing on the containers and cartons, the aesthetics of the paint outlets across the country and, most importantly, the quality of service given to the customers. Another pioneering initiative taken by the company is the introduction of ‘Warranty’ on cans which signifies the confidence of the company in the quality of its products. Additionally, the company will undertake a major human resource exercise, which will involve educating and motivating its employees and dealers to pass on the Lewis Berger brand ethos to the consumers.
Speaking on the new developments, Subir Bose, Managing Director, Berger Paints India Limited, said, “The fact that the home décor segment is fast evolving into a lifestyle statement has prompted us to take this initiative. These days consumers are inclined towards giving their surroundings a world-class look. The paint industry has not yet fully exploited the potential of this change. With Lewis Berger, we hope to capture this space by upgrading our product quality and offering a better brand value.”
With the festive season just around the corner, the re-branding initiative is aimed at strengthening the company’s position in the premium paints category. The umbrella brand ‘Lewis Berger’ retains the respectability and equity gained by Berger over the years and signifies image enhancement for all the key products of the company.
Elaborating on the company’s financials, Bose said, “I am proud to say that Berger Paints is the fastest growing paint company in the country. Our financials have always been our strength and we can boast of the highest profit growth in our industry. Berger Paints ended the year 2004-05 with a turnover of Rs 913 crores and we are looking at becoming a Rs 1100-crore company this financial year. We are committed to assuring very high returns to our shareholders who have reposed their faith in us over the years. In fact, Rs 1 lac invested in the company in 1994 is valued at more than Rs 20 lacs today. This is a phenomenal rise by any standards.”
