Company Release

New Delhi, January 4

Sony Ericsson today announced the expansion of its nationwide sales distribution network by adding Ingram Micro as the second national distribution partner along with Salora International. Ingram Micro, which till now was operating only in the Eastern and western markets for Sony Ericsson, has been added to address the mobile handset market on a national footprint from January 2006 as a strategic move towards widening reach and servicing the increasing demand for Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

Post this expansion Sony Ericsson will have a presence in upwards of 15,000 retail outlets thus significantly enhancing its distribution strength to capitalise on an impressive product range. Speaking on the significance of this development, Mr. Sudhin Mathur, General Manager, Sony Ericsson, India said, “With the enhanced portfolio of products across segments that we have to offer from the start of 2006, now is the right time to consolidate and further on the inroads we made into the booming market last year. This tie-up is aimed at taking the next step towards making a Sony Ericsson handset available to even the farthest consumer in the country. The expansion would help us gain increased market presence and would lead to a wider purchase choice for the end consumer.”

Sony Ericsson will now operate through these two national distributors apart from their tie up with Sony India, which provides presence in the retail network of Sony Worlds, and Sony Exclusive stores.
