KFC announces the launch of its maiden restaurant in Delhi

KFC, the world’s largest chicken restaurant chain, in an exclusive media preview announced that it will be launching it’s maiden restaurant in Delhi soon. KFC’s favorite mascot Chicky unlocked the doors for a press preview of the restaurant amidst festivity and excitement.

The 114-seater KFC restaurant at the City Square Mall, Rajouri Garden in West Delhi promises customers a wide range of sumptuous mouthwatering food, served in a friendly and delightful ambience.

KFC’s presence in Delhi will be an important step in extending the brand’s presence in India. Enthusiastic about the forthcoming launch of its first restaurant in the capital, Mr. Sandeep Kohli, Managing Director, Indian Sub-Continent, Yum! Restaurants International, said, “Wide consumer appeal and marketplace expertise have made KFC a powerful, growing, global brand. This year KFC plans to expand its presence in this country at an unprecedented pace. We should have 25 restaurants by end 2006 versus the 11 we had last year.”

“Yum views India as a key strategic market with immense potential for future growth. A buoyant market environment will see KFC scaling its presence to more restaurants in the capital and launch across all major metros in the country through franchisee and self-owned restaurants this year,” he added.

Mr. Arvind Mediratta, Chief Marketing Office, Yum! Restaurants International said, “KFC is an international brand with an Indian heart and has successfully adapted itself to local tastes and preferences. KFC will bring to Delhi the unparalleled flavour of its mouth watering proprietary chicken that is renowned internationally. Its signature chicken products such as the Hot & Crispy chicken, the Original Recipe Chicken( made with Colonel Sanders’ Secret Recipe of 11 herbs & spices) and the Zinger Burger have been a hit with Indian consumers in all the markets KFC is present in.”

KFC has also adapted the menu in keeping with Indian sentiments and preferences. “Developed specially for India, KFC offers a range of veg products like the Chana Crunch Snacker, an aromatic Veggie Pulao and steaming Makhani Curry. The veg menu also includes the Paneer Wrap ’n’ Roll and the Veg Thali. All the vegetarian food is prepared with 100% pure vegetarian ingredients , cooked in separate utensils, using separate cooking oils”, emphasized Mr Mediratta. The food is handled by a separate crew distinctly identifiable in their green colour coded uniforms. KFC has also customized the packaging with color-coding to distinguish the vegetarian fare.

KFC’s pricing strategy enables customers to enjoy high quality food at affordable prices. Apart from the Chicken and Chana Crunch Snackers, which are available at Rs 25/-, KFC also offers wholesome meals like the Chicken and the Veg Thalis at an unbelievable Rs 50!.
