Company press release, May 22, 2003
New Delhi
Ravi Singh - 30 years old, Founder and CEO, ElectionMall.Com Technologies, one of the largest US political websites, a card carrying Republican and online campaigner for George W Bush's winning campaign, today unveiled his book LEADERSHIP BY TURBAN, both in Audio and E-book formats. This Audio and E-book launch is a first-of-its-kind for India.
Speaking on the rationale of launching the book in electronic and audio formats, Ravi Singh, its author, said, "This is after all the Information Age and IT is changing the face of everything. An E-book is a vote for the inevitable future. It offers economy and interactivity, it is environmental friendly and easy to distribute."
Ravi Singh's highly tech-savvy E-book LEADERSHIP BY TURBAN was prompted by his experiences. Born and raised in Illinois, USA, in 1990, he graduated from Marmion Military Academy, making history by becoming the first US cadet ever to graduate from a military academy with a turban and achieving the presidency of the student body. Ravi has since been an aide to the lieutenant governor of Illinois, an NCAA Division I golf captain, a candidate for public office, a community activist involved in two presidential campaigns, an international lecturer, and business entrepreneur.
The book is in full colour throughout its over 100 pages and has provisions for interactive mouse-based cross-referencing. It approaches its subject matter - leadership - with common sense and good humour making it an appealing read to a wide variety of readers, many of whom might be curious about turbans and the people who wear them in America.
The book has been dedicated to the memory of S. Balbir Singh Sodhi, a Sikh and the first innocent person killed in the aftermath of 9/11 just because he wore a turban. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the children of S. Balbir Singh Sodhi for their future education.
Added Ravi, "Post 9/11 there is an urgent need to tell a Sikh from people of different ethnic origins apart. The best way to do this is to increase awareness and knowledge of who we are so that needless tragedies fuelled by ignorance can be avoided."
The audio and electronic versions of the book are available on a Compact Disc for Rs. 495/-. The electronic version of the book can also be bought over email for just Rs. 99/- Currently the book is available online on www.leadershipbyturban.com and on www.amazon.com. Talks with some prominent online malls in India are on for the distribution of the book.
