Real Image attracts investment from Intel Capital

Intel Capital, the venture capital investment arm of Intel Corporation, recently announced its decision to invest in Real Image Media Technologies. The announcement was made by Arvind Sodhani, President of Intel Capital, at the Intel Capital CEO Summit in Mumbai on the 24th of May 2006.

Intel’s investment reflects growing industry interest in digital content distribution and management as an emerging business direction in technology – an innovation requirement that is expected to be a key driver for the direction of the media and entertainment industry in particular.

The Qube platform of Real Image has powered its entry into the global domains of Digital Cinema and Digital Signage. The company follows a unique business model focused on Out-of-Home media, especially the networked digital signage solution (QSign) for Malls and Large Format retailers. “Out-of-home advertising is the focus of brands and advertising agencies today. And Real Image’s solutions of Digital Signage (QSign), Digital Cinema Advertising (QCine) and Digital Jukeboxes (QJam), leverage Networking and Satellite technologies to offer never-before available flexibility and control to advertisers in the out-of-home media”, said Jayendra Panchapakesan, Director, Real Image.

Real Image Media Technologies intends to utilize this investment to scale-up the R & D efforts for the Qube platforms, especially for enhancing the features of its digital signage solution (QSign) and to expand the network base for both QSign and Qube Cinema.

This represents the fifth investment by Intel in India from its US$250 million Intel Capital India Technology Fund, established in December 2005.

Real Image Media Technologies is India’s foremost media & entertainment technology company that has already spearheaded two significant revolutions in the country – Digital Non-Linear Editing with Avid and Digital Surround Sound for cinema with DTS.

The company’s latest indigenous initiatives QSign, the digital signage solution and Qube Cinema, an end-to-end digital cinema solution are now poised to revolutionise the industry, in particular the emerging domain of out-of-home media.
