Leading Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel Ltd. recently hosted the GSM Association’s prestigious Annual Board Conference at New Delhi, from 12th to 14th June 2006. This seminal event, expected to fix the future direction of the world market for GSM services, was attended by 28 board members and 14 CEOs of global giants in the field.
The GSMA Annual Board Conference 2006 was reckoned a qualified success for C S Direkt Events & Exhibitions (P) Ltd., a leading marketing communications company that planned and managed the 3-day event which included the 3 day conference itself, a theme dinner and a press conference and multiple group meetings. The CS Direkt Team won full kudos for overall conception, creative design and organization.
The theme of the event “India Unbound. Impressions…”, was designed to portray the country’s unique impression on the world, by way of cultural influence and present capabilities in science and technology.
The central GSMA Annual Board Conference itself was held at the Hotel Maurya Sheraton on 12th June 2006. followed by the EMC Meet on 13th & 14th at the same venue. A thematic gala dinner was organized at Hotel Oberoi. This grand banquet saw delicious cuisine drawn from different regions served against unusually striking backdrops and set designs portraying historical monuments of India. In addition, the delegates were entertained by soulful performances of fusion music/dance by Merlin, Raghav Sachar, and a fashion sequence blending traditional Indian designs with western styling - all well appreciated by those present.
This event concluded with a press conference which included the revelation of a customer base 2 billion strong, marking a worldwide success story for GSM service providers. This press conference was jointly conducted by Mr. Craig Ehrlich, Chairman, GSM Association, and the Honorable Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Mr. Dayanidhi Maran. Also present for this announcement was Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal of Bharti Airtel Ltd.
