Radio City launches 'Shaam-E-Ghazal' with Roop Kumar Rathod

The grueling wait is over for all ghazal lovers as Radio City unveils a fresh season of ghazals with the launch of a new show solely devoted to ghazals. Starting Friday, October 6, the 'Shahensha of Ghazals', Roop Kumar Rathod makes his radio debut as the host of a classic new show on Radio City 91 FM, Mumbai - 'Shaam-E-Ghazal'' - an interesting blend of unplugged ghazals, mushairas and 'live on-air' performance by the expert himself.

Airing every Friday at 9:00 p.m., with a repeat telecast on Sunday at 9:00 p.m., 'Shaam-E-Ghazal', the hour long show will feature Roop Kumar Rathod at his best as a Radio Jockey. Apart from playing famous ghazals, the show would also look at reviving ghazal listening and giving a new dimension to it. Listeners would also be able to hear the maestro cite examples of shayaris & ghazals and explain the nuances, meanings of relevant words & difficult phrases in his shayarana style.

As the singing maestro, Roop Kumar Rathod puts it, "For the first time in the history of FM radio, a show is completely dedicated to Ghazals.
