NEW DELHI, October 7
Bloodthirsty barbarian or benevolent ruler? Attila, the Hun’s name is equated with barbaric fury, but this shrewd, tough leader was more than just a fighter. This October, The History Channel brings you up close and personal with this legendary conqueror who forged a loose confederation of nomadic tribes into the most feared military machine of its time. Premiering on Saturday, October 7 at 8pm, this Jumbo Movie portrays the real life story of one of history’s most feared and misunderstood leaders.
Attila the Hun illustrates the waning days of Roman Empire when the barbarian Huns were making their way toward Europe. A warrior named Attila violently assumes Hun leadership and unites the warring clans under his banner. But this is not enough for him as Attila seeks to form an empire and he sees Rome, bristling under the leadership of the incompetent Caesar Valentian, ripe for the picking. In an endeavor to quell a Hun invasion, the ambitious Roman General, Flavius Aetius attempts to form an alliance against Attila against their mutual enemy, Visigoth King Theodoric. But this plan backfires, and it soon becomes clear that a violent showdown between all three armies awaits.
From the producers of the blockbuster, ‘The Mummy’ and co-starring Gerard Butler of ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ fame along with Emmy winner Powers Boothe, the movie shows Attila as a great leader and strategist. Catch this special premier of Attila The Hun at 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2006 only on The History Channel.
