New Update

Rajat Sharma, anchor of Aaj Ki Baat on STAR News, plans to move on when his contract with STAR gets over in October-November, 2003. If industry rumours are anything to go by, Sharma plans to launch a news and current affairs channel later this year. When contacted, his office told agencyfaqs!, Sharma would speak to the media at "an appropriate time".

Aaj Ki Baat will continue to be aired on STAR, as the media house has the rights to the current affairs programme. Sanjay Pugalia, news director, STAR News, would replace Sharma as the host of the show.

In a parallel development, Vinod Dua, ex-advisor and content provider to the Subroto Roy-promoted Sahara TV, will make an appearance on STAR News as guest anchor on election special Kaun Banega Mukhyamantri.

Sharma, catapulted into the limelight with Aap Ki Adalat on ZEE, moved to STAR where he anchored Adalat on STAR Plus, followed by Aaj Ki Baat, which shifted from STAR Plus to STAR News when the former became a complete entertainment channel.
