New Delhi, May 17

Moneycontrol.com has been named the best stock broking website in India, Tech2.com emerged as the clear winner among the technology websites and IBNLive.com has been named the best news website in India by the leading technology magazine PC World.

Moneycontrol.com, tech2.com, and ibnlive.com few of the many rich offerings from WEB 18, the Online Division of Television Eighteen.

Moneycontrol.com has been named the best stock broking website in India by leading technology magazine ‘PC World’ among several top contenders, which included way2wealth.com, jvfinancials.com, HDFC Securities, Money Control, ICICI Direct, IDBI Paisa Builder, 5 Paisa and India Bulls.

“Moneycontrol.com emerged as an outright winner, providing an absolutely clean and easy to use interface, with all the features that you might desire at your fingertips. The site also deals in commodity trading unlike many other sites,” PC World announced. Other features such as a live market map, watch list, current news and market advice have made it stand head and shoulders above the competition.

Tech2.com has emerged victorious amongst a fray that included Techtree, Ciol.com and ZDNet India. "A clean and easy-to-use design with a smart color palette to attract the target audience, the fresh feel of the site and the addition of video in collaboration with CNBC-TV18 add a new dimension to the website and move it to a different paradigm altogether," says the panel.

The panel commented on the content saying, “none of the other sites are as comprehensive as tech2”.

IBNLive.com has been named the best news website in India by leading technology magazine beating the likes of NDTV.com, Sify, Rediff, Expressindia, HindustanTimes and Times of India, MSN and Yahoo among others. IBNLive.com is the web portal of popular English news channel, CNN-IBN.

Commenting on the accolades that Web 18 group websites have received, Mr Surya Mantha – CEO, Web 18 said: “MC.com is the undisputed leader in the online financial news, information, tools and community space. We constantly strive to add novel features and best-in-class tools so that our users are engaged and derive more value from the site. It is a source of great pride that PCWorld has recognized the efforts of the entire moneycontrol.com team and we will surely continue to endeavor to retain the top spot.”

On the criteria of selection in different segments, ‘PC World’ says “the awards aim to capture the framework and user understanding that the site has – embodied in its design and deployment of technology - rather than to rate its specific content, something that changes very dynamically and perhaps impossible to judge objectively.”

In its first year, the ‘PC World’ awards focus on 20 prominent categories – products and services that are most useful today and are not based on fancy future roadmaps. The 126 nominees that the tech magazine evaluated "represent the best-known names as well as some not-so-famous-yet sites that our panels of experts believe do justice to their mission."

"The winners are based on what our experts believe are the most promising and deserving sites," it adds. While Cricinfo was adjudged the winner in cricket category, Web18 Group's CricketNext.com finds a mention as the next best specialist.
