Radio City 91.1FM supports one its kind 21 day Bangalore – Mumbai Marathon

In an endeavor to create awareness on the realities of global warming, Radio City 91.1FM, India’s Leading Radio Network and India’s Station of the Year is supporting and partnering an innovative, one of its kind 21 day Bangalore – Mumbai Marathon Run by Bangalore’s very own Samim Rizvi. Joining Samim at the Flag-off of the Marathon Run from Vidhana Soudha today was the Radio City team along with RJ Saggy, Radio Jockey (Radio City Rock Show) and Station Head, Radio City Bangalore. Lending support and applauding this initiative in its ‘Whatte Fun’ style, the Radio City team along with listeners ran the beginning stretch to commemorate the start of this meaningful initiative.

Samim, a renowned Bangalore-based model and ex-boxer will complete the 1100 KM Bangalore - Mumbai Marathon in 21 days and is expected to reach The Gateway of India, Mumbai on September 28, 2007. He will cycle back from Mumbai to Bangalore in 6 days covering 200 kms a day. While on his Marathon Run, Samim will cross Tumkur, Chitradurga, Hubli, Belgaum, Karad, Kolhapur, Satara and Pune. On the way, he will stopover at schools and villages to create awareness about global warming by distributing informative pamphlets on ways to curb this threat and conserve energy. Amplifying this message seamlessly to audiences in Bangalore and Mumbai, Radio City will give regular updates on the progress of Samim’s Run to Radio Cityzens in these cities.

Energized and raring to go, an enthusiastic Samim said, “Pollution to me is a global terrorist and this is my way of fighting it! Like many other responsible citizens I realized the threats of this hazard and am determined to spread the message to the people. I am very glad and thankful to Radio City for coming forward to lend their support and help convey this message to the people.”

Born on July 7, 1969, Bangalore based Samim is a qualified Engineer in Computer Science with a Diploma in Perfumery Sciences from G.I.P., Grasse, France. He has been modeling for the last 19 yrs and has over 20 television commercials and several print campaigns as part of his portfolio. Highly sensitized to the threats of global warming, Samim gave up using motorized vehicles early on and either runs or cycles to commute.
