In its effort to demystify vote-on-account, STAR News will air a special series, Kya Karenge Vittmantri, beginning January 29. This half-hour programme will be aired at 8.30 pm from January 29 to February 6, 2004.
The Government will seek a vote-on-account in a special session of the Parliament on February 3, 2004. The programme will address a few key questions: How will Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh balance budgetary requirements with the need to prolong the pre-election 'feel good factor'? What is the expected impact of Singh's pre-poll gift on the economy and industry and ultimately the consumer? How will these sops impact the fiscal health of the Government?
Kya Karenge Vittmantri will feature panel discussions with noted industrialists, economists and political leaders. On February 3, when the vote-on-account is presented in Parliament, Kya Karenge Vittmantri will be aired in hourly capsules. Each capsule will analyse the impact of the various sops announced on different sectors - ranging from state finances, housing loans, employment etc.
