‘It’s My Style’ Rules at LYCRA® MTV Style Awards 2007

The long wait and suspense finally came to an end as LYCRA® MTV Style Awards 2007 announced the most stylish people in India across various categories. Recognizing the best in the sphere of style and everything else that’s stylish, the most talked about show in India, was held on October 25th 2007, in Mumbai at the Andheri Sports Complex, amidst a gathering of some of the most stylish people across films, music, television, business and fashion, including the star cast of the most awaited film of the year – ‘Om Shanti Om’. The LYCRA® MTV Style Awards 2007 will be telecast on MTV on Saturday, November 3rd 2007 at 1.00 p.m. So WATCH OUT!!!

The ever-stylish Bollywood Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan was bestowed the Maha Style Icon of the Year. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwariya Rai were voted the ‘Most Stylish Actor’ in the male and female category respectively. Further, Dhoom-2 was declared the Most Stylish Film and Anaita Adajania Shroff was adjudged the most stylish designer in Bollywood. While Karan Johar was selected the Most Stylish Person in television, Atif Aslam was recognized for being the most Stylish Person in music. Ignatius Camello & Joey Matthew won the awards for the Most Stylish Person on ramp in the male & female category respectively. Abhishek & Nandita bagged the award for LYCRA®’ Breakthrough Designer of the Year.

Last but not least, MTV viewers voted Hrithik Roshan & Aishyariya Rai as the Most Stylish Couple of 2007.

When asked about his style statement, the Maha Style Icon, Shah Rukh Khan, quipped, “It’s my Style!”

Amongst the stylish lot, that turned out to be a part of LYCRA® MTV Style Awards 2007, were Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Hollywood star Jesse Metcalfe, Farah Khan, Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Gul Panag, Gulshan Grover, Anaita Adajania Shroff, Kim Sharma, Sanjay Gadhvi, Raghuvendra Rathod, Ashok Amritraj, Pooja Batra, Mehr Jesia Rampal, Shibani Kashyap, Homi Adajania, Milind Soman, Preeti Jhangiani, Parveen Dabbas ,Chak De gang-of-girls, MTV’s very own stylish VJs – Sophie, Mia, Cyrus Broacha, Cyrus Sahukar, Nikhil Chinappa, Anusha and Rannvijay.

LYCRA® MTV Style Awards 2007 were hosted by the very stylish Sagarika Ghatge, flanked by the funny men Cyrus Broacha and Cyrus Sahukar. A special act by Farah Khan & Shreyas Talpade had the audience in splits.

The unique couture extravaganza witnessed show-stopping displays and fusion of music, style and fashion. The chosen designers for this year teamed-up with international and Indian music artists for a special theme-based act and wove magic on stage – Atif Aslam with Vikram Phadnis (on the ‘My Tee’ range), Shafqat Amanat Ali with Abhishek & Nandita (the ‘Uniforms’ theme) and Hard Kaur with Vikram Phadnis (the ‘Gangs’ collection), and finally Raghu Dixit with Jatin Kocchar ( Universe of the Young - LYCRA® brand line) spell-bound the audience with their sheer energy and creativity on stage. And that’s not the end. Manish Malhotra displayed his collection based on the ‘Retro’ theme, with Arjun Rampal and Deepika Padukone walking the ramp as show-stoppers.

A celebrated panel of judges comprising of Atul Kasbekar, Farah Khan, Neha Dhupia, Anaita Adajania Shroff, Raghuvendra Rathore, Ramona Narang, Sheetal Malhar, Rohit Bal, Prahlad Kakkar, Manoviraj Khosla, Ambika Pillai, Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Mickey Contractor selected the winners in all the categories except the ‘Most Stylish Couple’, that was decided on the basis of voting by MTV viewers. The winners were selected for being original, dynamic, stylish and contemporary.
