Human drama, Chausath Panne (64 pages), has so far showcased series Dil Na Jaane Kyun, Mansha and Aandhi. Beginning April 4, 2004, another series debuts on Chausath Panne called Lavanya. The series will be shown from Sundays to Wednesdays, 8.30 pm.
Named after the protagonist, Lavanya is a journey of an adolescent girl, maturing into a woman in complete control of her life. Lavanya belongs to a Punjabi family settled in Delhi, who has been brought up espousing middle-class values and principles. Her life is hunky-dory, till she falls in love with a bohemian artist, Sandy. Destiny, it seems, had other plans. Sandy dies, and, for the sake of her parents, Lavanya enters into a contractual marriage with Nikhil. Shilpa Saklani plays the lead role of Lavanya.
Rajiv Mehta's Dream Team Software has produced Lavanya. Among the other shows produced by Mehta are Suhana Safar, Saturday Suspense, Rishtey and X-Zone. Habib Faizal, MFA in Cinema from Southern Illinois University, USA, has directed Lavanya. He was also the creative director for Andhakaar, a thriller on DD-National.
