Life moves at a non-stop pace for Jake Phillips (John Stamos, Full House), a New York publicist who’s the key player at Magnum PR Agency. Handsome and self-assured, he is always on call for his celebrity clients. Whether it’s a macho action star caught in an embarrassing situation, an older actress trying to dump her much-younger boyfriend, or two battling divas, Jake is there to spin the facts and control his client’s image. Further complicating his life is his boss, Naomi (Wendie Malick, Frasier), a woman with an abrasive personality who often uses Jake to deliver bad news to her staff and clients.

While Jake tries to maintain control on the work front, his personal life is in a shambles. After his fiancée dumped him, he still feels a little vulnerable and wary of commitment. His childhood friend, Adrian (Ian Gomez, Felicity), a married dentist living in the suburbs, vicariously enjoys Jake’s adventures and offers him a sympathetic ear when things don’t go right. Boasting an all-star cast and sassy-smart writing, Jake in Progress takes a light-hearted look at dating dilemmas from a guy’s point of view.

From Father Ted writer Graham Linehan comes the new workplace sitcom The IT Crowd on Thu, 29 May at 8 pm on Star World. Holed up in the basement of Reynholm Industries, The IT Crowd focuses on the company’s three-person IT support team: Roy (Chris O’Dowd), the aimless slob, Moss (Richard Ayoade), the archetypal tech geek, and their hapless boss Jen (Katherine Parkinson), who acts as Roy and Moss' relationship coach and life guru.

"It's very cheerful, very optimistic, with people you're supposed to quite like,” says creator Graham Linehan. “There's a real thing at the moment that comedy should be dark, and I just think that is the last thing we need at the moment. Why have a comedy that looks at the gloomy side of things?”

Make sure you tune in to the new seasons of “The IT Crowd” & “Jake in Progress”, from Thursday, May 29, 8 pm onwards only on Star World.
