The grand finale of the path-breaking programme that showcased young mothers with a multi-faceted personality will be decided solely on the basis of SMS voting by the viewers, in a show that will be telecast live across the globe from 6.30 pm on 23 August. Vanita Ratnam, its prequel in 2007, which was known as the mother of all reality shows, virtually transformed lives, it empowered women to break through society inflicted barriers, to soar free to their full potential and sent ripples of realization across the male mental attitude in Kerala.
Nearly 3000 young mothers jumped into the fray for the auditions of Vanita Ratnam-2 which was pruned to 15 after successive filterations; only 4 managed to make it to the finals - Bindhu, Binu, Priya and Romy. These mothers were not seasoned artists trained to give professional performances, but ordinary housewives who metamorphosed into extraordinary women, when placed in crunch situations, one still a student, another the mother of twins.
The finalists step into the arena of the Grand Finale after passing through numerous tough rounds of competitions that tested their skills, ingenuity, stamina and nerves. Vanita Ratnam-2 ran for five months, and was launched on March 31 this year as a weekday hourly show(Mon-Fri 8-9 pm). In what promises to be a closely fought contest between evenly matched competitiors, the four will clash for the crown and the total prize money in gold worth Rs 18 lakhs.
The three-hour long entertainment extravaganza before a 3000-strong live audience in Trivandrum comprising contestant fans, clients, Ad agencies, media, celebrities and channel partners will feature vote-seeking performances of the contestants; as well as a scintillating array of dances, skits, songs galore by invited artistes . As the needle of public voting swings to and fro between the contestants, and the Finale races to a nail- biting finish, which of the four queued up on the threshold of fame will step onto the winner's dias, is the big question.
Actually, SMS voting lines for the four finalists is already open, with the fluctuating vote shares of each being telecast on Amrita TV and its website at periodic intervals(visit www.amritatv.com/vr). As it gets closer to D-Day,the excitement is due to reach a crescendo, and their performances and luck on that memorable night will ultimately decide who will emerge as Vanita Ratnam-2 .
Leading organizations who have shown interest in partnering with Amrita TV for internet streaming for worldwide audiences are Google, Rediff.com and Bigadda.com, among others.
