NEO Sports Broadcast, the broadcasting arm of Nimbus, has tied up with Airtel digital TV to carry NEO Cricket, the 24x7 cricket centric channel and NEO Sports, the premium all sports channel. Airtel launched its DTH services on 9th October, 2008.
Commenting on the development, Arun Poddar – President, Distribution, NEO Sports Broadcast says, “Our association with Airtel for their DTH venture holds a special significance for us as it has coincided with the biggest season of cricket on NEO – the on-going India – Australia, followed by India - England . We hope to substantially increase our viewership through this association.”
The Airtel DTH service would be available to customers through 21,000 retail points including Airtel Relationship Centres in 62 cities. There are 225 million television viewing households across the country and the penetration is only 3 percent for DTH services.

Airtel digital TV uses the MPEG4 standard with DVB S2 technology, which translates into exceptional picture clarity and consistent high quality audio for the customer. This technology also enables delivery of more complex interactive content and is High Definition ready.
Neo Cricket will offer 24 hour coverage of the Australia series, consisting apart from the live coverage of the match, 2 hours of wrap around programming which includes the show Extra Cover , 2 versions of highlights, nightly specials of Sports Zone and Dial C for Cricket and late night full match replays.
