Network 18 television channels CNBC-TV18 & IBN7 have geared up to bring the sixth edition of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, 2009 live to millions of Indians on January 18, 2009 from 7:30 am onwards.
The Mumbai Marathon is Asia’s Biggest and richest marathon. But this year the event has gained greater importance nationally and internationally as it is the first major public event post the Mumbai terror attacks and the event will go on to prove the determination of the citizens not to let terror affect their beliefs. Network 18 television channels CNBC-TV18 & IBN7 aim to drive home this message and ensure a truly informative, power packed and entertaining viewing experience to the audience.
CNBC-TV18 & IBN7 will showcase a 360degree view of the Marathon where people from various strata of the society would come together and participate to extend their support for a cause they believe in. The channels will cover the remarkable diversity of the marathon experience ranging from professional participation to marathon trivia, support to charity causes to corporate social endeavours and from individual recreation to community building. The reporters of CNBC-TV18 & IBN7 will participate in the marathon to ensure a detailed and precise viewing experience to the audience. The Marathon will witness 35,000 participants and will begin and end at the Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus in a show of unity and will galvanize to bring the city together on a unified platform of sport. The race categories for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2009 would be a Full Marathon (42.195km), Half Marathon (21.097km), Dream Run (6km), Senior Citizens Run (4.3km) and the Wheelchair Event (2.5km).
