RadioMango 91.9 bags 2 bronze at WOW Awards

Radio Mango 91.9, the radio initiative of the Malayala Manorama group, bagged two bronze awards at the WOW Events and Experiential Marketing Awards held on 6th March at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. The on-ground music reality contest called 'Radio Mango Idea Nattile Tharam', the star of the state, won the awards in the following categories: Activation Program of the Year by a Radio station and Event / Property of the Year by a Radio Station.

WOW awards is an initiative of EVENTFAQS, in association with the Ad Club Bombay, and supported by the Rural Marketing Association of India, to recognize the efforts put in the events and experiential marketing space in 2008. The first edition of the Awards received 472 entries from 85 entrants across 28 categories. A jury comprising senior professionals from across industry segments judged entries in two phases, spread over 30 days.

Radio Mango 91.9 was among the only 2 radio stations that qualified for any awards at the WOW, while nominations were received from most of the national players in the industry. “This award means a lot to us as our efforts are recognized at a national level, while we are yet to complete our first year of operations in Kochi”, said Kamal Krishnan, Senior Manager – Marketing, Radio Mango. “This award stands as a testimony to the standards we adopt in our activations and deliverables promised to our partners, especially Idea Cellular ltd who was the Title Sponsor of Nattile Tharam. Thanks to WOW awards for organizing a platform which recognizes the best of events and experiential marketing from across the country. We sure have a long way to go and this recognition provides us the impetus to continue our efforts in the field of activations more vigorously”.

Nattile Tharam, meaning the star of the state, is a 100% on-ground Music reality show. It was unique by having on-ground auditions organized at over 500 panchayaths across Kerala. A fleet of air-conditioned transparent mobile recording studios with state of art speakers were dispatched across the state in search of Kerala's Best Male & Female singer. It was capped by a star studded televised finale that featured eminent juries like Shankar Mahadevan, K.S Chithra, Deepak Dev and many other top music directors of the Malayalam Film Industry. Nattile Tharam clocked over 20,000 contestants and an incredible 15 lakh plus eyeballs. The winners had an opportunity to cut a Music album with Kerala's best Music directors, talent management for a year and handsome cash prizes.

Radio Mango 91.9 has partnered with the best of events in Kerala, associating with reputed brands across various categories. In a study conducted by IMRB International, Radio Mango was ranked No.1 in Listenership and Brand Recall in Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur.
