BBC Magazines in the UK have sold Good Homes to Kent-based publishers of a portfolio of consumer lifestyle magazines and books, Kelsey Publishing. The magazine will continue under the BBC brand until the August 2009 edition, after which it will be entirely independent of the BBC.
This change in ownership of the UK brand will not affect the publication of BBC Good Homes India, that is part of a bouquet of magazines owned by Worldwide Media (WWM), a BBC Worldwide-Times of India joint venture. Says Tarun Rai, CEO, Worldwide Media: "BBC Good Homes India will continue to be a prize Worldwide Media property. The magazine will retain the comfortable niche in the Indian décor and lifestyle space and remain the trusted partner to house-proud Indians across the country."
BBC Magazines MD, Peter Phippen says, "Good Homes UK is a quality magazine with an outstanding reputation within the British magazine industry and we wish the new owners every success. The sale of Good Homes UK will not affect the publication of the magazine’s other worldwide editions. Within a year of its launch, BBC Good Homes India has proved to be a success, in terms of circulation, ad revenues and market share. We will continue to support BBC Good Homes India and are confident that it will grow from strength to strength."
