To celebrate the new season of the popular travel series ‘Royal Reservation’, NDTV Good Times today hosted a modern day soiree of India’s princely descendents at an evocative setting of Imperial Hotel’s 1911. Recreating the magic of Delhi Durbar after ninety-nine years, Royal Reservation at the Imperial was a special event where families from across princely India were brought together by show host Amrita Gandhi. A forthcoming pictorial book, inspired by the show and Amrita’s experience of travelling through Royal India, was announced at the evening.

Surrounded by photographs and memorabilia of their ancestors who attended the Delhi Durbar in the year 1911, the royal families gathered for a portrait session by noted photographer Amit Pasricha, at the very same venue. While the august congregation, dressed in their Libaas-e-khaas, shared a champagne toast; a classical treat by Prince Rama Varma of Travancore filled the air with tranquility. Glimpses from the series were shown along with conversational anecdotes by Amrita Gandhi and her guests.

Some of the royals families who attended the evening were Maharani Divya Kumari of Bharatpur; Princess Rajyashree Kumari of Bikaner; Yuvrani Rishma of Patiala; Rajmata Dewas; Gitanjali Shah of Tehri Garhwal, Mandawa; Abhi-Udaya Katoch and Priyanjali Katoch of Katoch; Raja Jigmed Namgyal from Ladakh; Srikantadattanarasimharaja Wadiyar from Mysore; Maharani Shubhangini Gaekwad and Yuvrani Radhika Gaekwad from Baroda; Shri Pradyut Manikya from Tripura; Maharani Kumud Kumari and Maharaja Jyotinder Singh from Gondal; Yuvraj Manvendra Sinh Gohil from Rajpipla; Prince Rama Varma from Travancore; HH Dr. Anant Narain Singh of Benaras; Princess Aaliya from Balasinor; Tikka Sahib Omeshwar Singh from Mandi; Yuvraj Ijyaraj Singh & Yuvrani Lalpana Devi of Kotah; Tikka Rani Poonam Singh of Nalagarh; Divraj Singh Jubbal and Divya Jubbal from Jubbal; and Rajkumar Uday Singh from Shimla. Some other famous personalities at the event were Amin Jaffer, Aman Nath, Sonal Mansingh, Zila Khan, Gopalkrishna Gandhi, French Ambassador Jérôme Bonnafont, Suhel Seth and Vijay Wanchoo, Senior Vice President, The Imperial.

Speaking on the occasion, Shibani Sharma Khanna, Channel Head, NDTV Good Times & Creative Head, NDTV Lifestyle said, "It is a proud moment for the NDTV Good Times team as we bring together the royal families of India to celebrate the TV series Royal Reservation that showcases their life and charm in a captivating style. Royal Reservation at The Imperial is a perfect setting for us to announce the book based on Amrita’s experience from the show for our audiences to connect with the enduring traditions of Royal India."

Reminiscing her experiences from the show, anchor Amrita Gandhi said, "From meeting India's former princely kingdom rulers to bringing alive their voyage of family pride, storybook legends, treasure hunts and princess diaries, the show Royal Reservation has been an exciting journey all along the way. I have attempted to capture my fascinating journey through this book."

The show ‘Royal Reservation’ on NDTV Good Times is a first person account of host Amrita Gandhi's meetings with the Royal Houses of India. A young prince talks about coming out of the closet… a great palace is restored for the 21st century… a princess pulls out trunks of ancient costumes… Amin Jaffer, author of ‘Made for the Maharajas’ shows us where great wealth meets great taste and where it doesn’t. This is a series where being Royal finds meaning in our time.

The show airs every Wednesday at 10.00 pm.
